In Ontario, there's a heart-warming story. A two-month-old baby moose (驼鹿) named Cedar is blind. Now he has a new chance to live. This is thanks to a local rescue group and the Toronto Zoo.
Cedar was found alone on a country road. His mother was not there. People from Holly's Haven Wildlife Rescue found him. They knew he might not live if they didn't help him right away.
The team at Holly's Haven quickly prepared a room to check on Cedar and see how he was. The animal doctors found he could see a little from one eye. The next day, they built a small fenced(围以栅栏的) area outside. This would help him get used to things and get better.
The rescue group looked for a long-term plan to care for him. Usually, Holly's Haven takes in and cares for animals, but it was full. So Rowe, the head of the group, asked the Toronto Zoo for help.
“Moose can't be taken out of the wild to be put in a zoo,”Rowe said. The only way a wild animal like Cedar can live in a fenced area is if it can't go back to the wild. The zoo CEO said,“Many Canadians never see a moose. If he needs a forever home, we' re happy to take care of him.”
