Grandma Visits National Parks

Joy Ryan is 92 years old. Until 2015, she had hardly left her small town in Ohio, U. S. A. One day that October, her grandson Brad Ryan invited her on a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park(大雾山国家公园).

That weekend, Joy climbed her first mountain with Brad. They set up their tent there and enjoyed the beauty of nature. They also spent time observing birds and listening to the sounds of the forest. This experience made them want to continue their journey. So they set a big goal— to visit all 63 national parks in the country together.

During their trips to other national parks, the two came across a group of bison(野牛). Whales and dolphins swam past them.“Bear School” taught them how to stay safe around grey bears.“ I had always wanted to see a bear catch a fish. And I finally got to see it,” said Joy.“It was really fun!

Along the way, Joy and her grandson have overcome many difficulties together. And they have become very close to each other.

They are now nearing the end of their journey and have only one more national park left to explore. The two are looking forward to the day they visit their final park! They plan to celebrate this special journey with their whole family.
