Fixing an Elephant’s Tusk

Uli is a male African elephant living at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. He came to the zoo in 2025. The zookeepers take great care of him. And he trusts them deeply.

One day, when keepers were doing their daily health check, they found a small hole in Uli's tusk. To stop the hole from growing bigger, the zoo asked Dr Peter Kelteshi for help. He is a world-famous dentist. He has a lot of experience and has treated the teeth of many kinds of animals, such as lions and dolphins.

To fix the tusk, Dr Peter Kelteshi first carefully polished and cleaned the broken part. Then, he used a special resin to fix the small hole.

Thanks to daily gentle training from his keepers, Uli stayed calm and cooperated perfectly during the entire treatment. Once the treatment was done, Uli got his favourite bananas and cabbages as a reward.

The tusk is fully restored now. It will stay strong and healthy for many years.
