Good and Bad of Online Friends

Today, we can make friends not only face-to-face, but also online. Do you think teenagers should make more friends on the internet? Here are some pros and cons of having online friends.

Pros

You can make friends online with people who share your interests. If you like movies, for example, you can join an online group of movie lovers and meet new people.

On the internet, it's easier for shy people to start a conversation with a stranger.

You can take your time to write and send your first message. You don't have to go to the movies or go out to eat with your online friends. You can just relax at home and talk to them.

Making online friends from different countries can be a good experience. You can learn about each other's culture.

Cons

When you chat with your online friends, you have no way of knowing certain things. These include their body language and their tone of voice. As a result, you may misunderstand the meaning behind their messages.

An online friend may lie to you. It can be very dangerous to meet your online friends in real life. As a teenager, you should be careful when making online friends.

Your online friends may disappear. They may stop using their social media account, for example. If you argue with them, they may hit the "delete friend" button when they get angry. In these cases, it will become difficult for you to reach them.
