Have you heard of Labubu? It's a cool toy character that is making its creator very, very rich.

According to a list of the richest people, Wang Ning, who started the toy company Pop Mart, has become the richest person in Henan. He has more money than Qin Yinglin, who became rich from pig farming. So, how did Wang Ning become so rich so quickly? The answer is a playful little character named Labubu.

Labubu is sold in “blind boxes”. This means you don't know which exact toy you are getting until you open the box. Blind-box toys have become a huge trend in Asia. People love to collect them all.

Labubu first showed up in 2019 and quickly became a big hit. Fans love it so much that they rush to buy every new version. When the Labubu 3.0 toy came out in April, it was so popular that it sold out immediately online. Some people even resold the toys for a much higher price just hours later.

Wang Ning owns almost half of Pop Mart's shares. As the company's value climbed over 170% this year, his personal wealth has skyrocketed too. The company is now worth over HK $300 billion. Labubu's design is both cute and a little rebellious, and it clearly connects with young people. It has turned a small toy into a giant brand.

This change is interesting. It shows that in China today, people can get very rich not just from farming or technology, but from creating fun things like Labubu. As Pop Mart takes Labubu to other countries, Wang Ning's story proves that one small character can change pop culture and make someone become very rich.
